Did you know that there is a cost-effective way to build your team and help the next generation get started in their career?
The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:
Employers can spread the start date of the job placements up until the end of December 2021.
You can now apply for a Kickstart Scheme grant by either:
- applying online yourself
- getting help from a Kickstart gateway who is already working with the Kickstart Scheme
We have been approached directly by AKR Growth Ventures who are keen to spread the word of the Governments Kickstart scheme across the membership of BNI. AKR Growth Ventures are a Kickstarter Gateway chosen by the Department of Works and Pensions.
Whilst AKR Growth Ventures have bought this to our attention we are aware there are many other Companies who have also been selected by the Government as Kickstart Gateways. Their role is to take all the administrative work away from any prospective Employer and if necessary, also provide training to the potential employee.
From a BNI perspective we see two benefits, firstly as your business grows through the referrals you generate you may need to grow your team to handle the extra business. Secondly but as important giving 16-24 year olds who are currently unemployed a great opportunity to get work experience that could lead to a permanent role. In bringing this Government initiative to your attention we are not recommending you take any certain course of action or deal with any specific provider. That choice must be yours and we’ve attached a few links below to help you be more informed to make that choice.
What we did want to do was to bring to your attention to a scheme that will further enhance the local business communities you all operate in by encouraging growth and maybe giving a good number of 16-24 year olds a good start to their career path.
